CASA NM

Where the Sea Meets Eclectic Design. Freedom, audacity, and storytelling through design—this is the essence of Casa NM, the latest interior project by NoriStudio. Set within an early 20th-century building in the heart of Sestri Levante’s historic caruggio, the apartment blends original stuccoes, lofty ceilings, and period details with a daringly contemporary vision of living. The result is a home that feels at once rooted in history and unapologetically modern.

At the heart of the concept is the personality of the homeowner: a true Milanese, effortlessly elegant, passionate about fashion, and unafraid of experimentation. Her taste translates into bold juxtapositions, where vibrant tones and contrasting textures come together in striking yet harmonious compositions.

Her brief was simple but ambitious: a home that would embody her eccentric spirit and her deep love for the sea.

The interiors are defined by contrasts—industrial-style resin floors in textured gray set the stage for dark woods, vivid fabrics, custom furnishings, and Mediterranean accents. A standout feature is the yellow wood designed by Ettore Sottsass for ALPI WOOD in the 1980s, first seen in the Memphis collection: a solar burst of color that runs through the space. Meanwhile, a B&B Italia sofa with fluid, contemporary lines anchors the living room, striking a delicate balance between timeless refinement and bold modernity.

Lighting plays a central role, with a mix of pieces from NEMO LIGHTING and archive finds from the client’s own collection. Carefully choreographed, the scheme shifts throughout the day, enhancing volumes and atmospheres while reflecting the interplay of past and future.

Adding an unexpected artistic note, Giacomo Zornetta has left his mark with a mural depicting his signature swimming pool filled with floating bodies—a poetic gesture that captures both lightness and depth, perfectly attuned to the home’s maritime spirit.

Casa NM is more than a renovation: it’s a declaration. A fearless example of eclectic design that reimagines a historic setting with freshness and individuality. Every choice, from material to volume, is a statement—of personality, of freedom, and of the sea.
